I'm exhausted and inspired! I worked and volunteered at 3 events in 5 days – all over the lower mainland. The post-Olympic hiatus is obviously over in Vancouver!
I started off by helping my friends at McHugh Productions with one of the conferences that they were servicing at the Wall Centre, then zipped over to False Creek to help set-up and welcome the VIPs to the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragonboat Festival. Rested for a day then drove WAY out to beautiful Whonnock Lake to assist with the Iron Mountain Triathlon. The next day I wrapped the blitz off with teardown at the Dragonboat Fest. (sigh)
It was so incredible to see all of the volunteers and spectators that came out and I have so much respect/awe for the athletes of all ages that train and compete at these events. Someday I'll have to come out from from behind the scenes to get on to the field-of-play.
Not today though! I'm going to rest up so that I can catch the action at the Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon & 5k this weekend.
